  • Praise God for the Central Asian church – despite being one of the most challenging regions, we have seen God work in amazing ways. Also, pray for believers to hold firm to Jesus in the face of persecution
  • For new missionaries / workers to settle well into Central Asia – as they learn language, culture and the practicalities of living in a new country
  • For the Eurasian Mission College in Kazan, Tatarstan – students come from across Central Asia to train to become gospel ministry workers back in their home countries (eurasian-ministries.org)
  • Pray for the People International UK office team – as they support gospel workers, recruit and prepare new workers, and raise funds for various ministries across Central Asia

  • For the President and government of Afghanistan, to be able to gather diverse tribal and religious leaders in agreement, so governing justly and fairly all its people.
  • For good and fair governance so that rural areas receive funds for building and maintaining roads, schools, education and health services.
  • For poor farmers to find alternative crops to opium and grow other crops that will benefit their communities and earn a viable income. For God to send rain at the right time so there may be good harvests and natural disasters averted.
  • For literacy programmes and new ways of communicating in an oral culture to be successful so that people may understand what is taught and catch the vision.

  • Pray that some cross-culturally sensitive elements of the larger and more mature Russian language churches can effectively partner with Kazakh language groups to the Glory of God.
  • Pray for unity instead of rivalry among church leaders.
  • Pray for the children of the first generation of post-Soviet believers, that they would follow the faith of their parents and that a new, stronger generation of leaders would emerge from them.
  • Pray for the villages of Kazakhstan where many have heard and received the Word, but most have no consistent fellowship or mentors to help them grow.
  • Pray that the Uyghur (approx. 270,000 in Kaz) Old Testament translation would proceed at a good pace
  • Pray against corruption and pray for continued economic growth

  • Pray for the minority of ethnic believers who are isolated and face many dangers – that they may be upheld, and given special strength and courage to remain faithful
  • Particularly for the safety and welfare of pastors and church leaders
  • Pray for opportunities for the Gospel to break into the many isolated Muslim people groups
  • For those willing to take the risk to evangelise across the North Caucasus
  • Especially pray for the Lord to prepare and equip pioneering church planters
  • That the relative political stability would continue and become more permanent
  • For the people and funds to make further Bible translation work possible

  • Praise God for ‘The Association of Christian Free Evangelical Churches’ – 15 fellowships consisting of between 5% – 45% Tatar believers. Their primary strategy is to reach children/youth and to do so, they organize summer camps using volunteers – pray for sufficient funds to be found to run these camps.
  • Give thanks for the work of the Eurasian Mission College (eurasian-ministries.org) based in the capital Kazan – as it trains up to 20 students each year for Gospel ministry across Central Asia
  • In 2016, a new package of laws was passed by Russia targeting terrorism but in reality have targeted the evangelical churches creating serious obstacles to evangelism, and added scrutiny, harassment and fines.
  • Most Evangelical churches known of are in urban areas, leaving the villages and older generations without any witness to Christ. Pray for Tatar speaking workers in the villages and smaller towns.
  • There is a real need for Tatar believers to be trained in methods that contextualize the Gospel for Tatars.
  • Pray for lay leaders to be raised up to support pastors who struggle with the demands of pastoring and working in full time jobs

  • Praise God for the Turkish church. Pray that it will continue to grow in strength and maturity, and to begin to reach the unreached conservative sectors of Turkish society
  • Pray for the Turkish government to honour God in its policies and treatment of all members of society. Pray for unity and peace across the country
  • Please pray for our workers doing Gospel ministry and humanitarian work amongst the refugees in Turkey
  • If graver opposition does come – pray that the Turkish believers will be given much courage, and enabled to be a shining witness in a land of such instability, confusion and uncertainty

  • Praise God for the 10,000+ ethnic Uzbek believers – who are faithful despite the suppression of religion
  • That religious freedom may increase under the relatively new leadership (elected 2016) of president Shavkat Mirziyoyev – so believers can meet all together, as opposed to only in small groups
  • For the government of Uzbekistan that it would provide political stability, economic prosperity, and social justice.
  • For the Uzbek church that believers would remain true to the Lord, fearless in the face of opposition and demonstrating the love of the Lord Jesus
  • For the leaders of the church to stay firmly devoted to Christ, full of wisdom to know how to answer their opponents, full of grace to preach the Word faithfully.
  • For the very few remaining Christian expatriate workers to be able to encourage the church and its leaders to persevere
  • Praise God for the publication of the whole Bible in Uzbek
