Prayer pointers for Central Asian Gospel mission – March 2018

Iran

Recent protests by young people resulted in deaths and up to 3,700 arrests. The protests were aimed at the regime’s corruption and strict religious laws. The church is growing in Iran but is under persecution. Pray for the government, the younger generation and the church, and for peace and stability.

Turkey

The State of Emergency following the 2016 coup is still in place, and an imprisoned American pastor is being used as a political pawn to put pressure on the US to arrest Fethullah Gulen who the government blame for the coup. Pray for the pastor to be released, and for the government to serve the people without exerting fear and unjust rule.

Azerbaijan:

Praise for small church groups meeting in homes in regional towns where local pressure against believers is constant. Pray for leaders to emerge and grow and lead their families and neighbours to Christ.

UK Office:

Praise for a steady stream of enquirers wanting to serve short or long term in Central Asia. Pray for God to call and lead these people into His plans and purposes, and for them to find the right location and team to serve with as God opens doors.

Eurasian Mission College, Tatarstan

The role of Student Director is vacant – do pray that the Lord will guide the college to the right person.  It’s a key role. Also, inevitably more workload is falling back on the college principal in the interim.

Praise God for the mission practice placements that took take place in February – pray for lasting fruit from the many conversations that were had, and the Christian literature that was handed out.
